The Heartbeats Program

Heartbeats is the official volunteer program of A-Plus Home Care and Hospice. Our volunteers take pride in helping our clients live every day of life to it’s fullest. The services we provide are aimed at improving the quality of life and embracing every opportunity.
Being a member of the Heartbeats team is an experience that is rewarding for both the volunteer and the person receiving assistance.
We’ve found that because of the wide array of projects that we take on, people from all walks of life can volunteer and enjoy their time doing it. We’ve had everyone from the college student to the busy executive to the retired grandfather or even family members of past patrons find great joy in sharing part of their time and themselves with the amazing people we care for.
Here’s a short list of many of the ways that you can contribute:
- Companionship
- Playing cards or board games
- Minor housework or home repairs
- Beautician or Barber service
- Manicure or pedicure services
- Listening
- Having a conversation
- Running Errands
- Sitting with patient so family can have respite time
- Photography
- Videography
- Compiling a life history
- Paper folding projects
- Sewing projects
- Writing thank you cards
- Helping people complete items on their “bucket list”
- Scrapbooking
- Knitting
- Singing or playing a musical instrument
- Endless other things according to your skills and patient needs and desires
This is just a small sample of ways that you can help the Heartbeats program. We know you have many talents, and we would love to have you as part of our team. Your only required skill is the desire to serve others… everyone can do it.

We love the words of Theodore Roosevelt and have adopted them into our program for motivation and inspiration:
“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”
